"...our trophies are
not of gold or silver, reputation, or even a sense of
accomplishing a good thing. Our prize — the joy
of serving the Lord that no one can ever
take from us."
The above quote is from an E-mail written to us by a friend on
26.09.2003
Did you get the message? Our reward is not "even a sense of
accomplishing a good thing" !! What???....Why not? Because the REAL prize is "the joy of
serving the Lord", which
"no one can ever take [away] from us". Hey, let's "get wise" and stop having
our
own efforts at the
centre of our attention! If you know Jesus, life is no longer
about "ME" - we had that before we knew Christ. It's now
about HIM.
"Son, look after the people you have."
These words were from my grandmother to my father when, as a
young man, he left home to become a full time Christian worker.
Presenting success in terms of
"more than before" statistics is only half of the picture.
Jesus' parables show that God rejoices both in growth and in faithfulness. Are we faithful in caring for those whom he has already given us
- our family, our friends, our church.
In the business world many firms boast of their profits. Few measure
themselves by the care they show to their employees.
How do you measure success in your church, in your service for the Lord
and, most importantly, your personal life?
Jesus said to Peter: "Feed my lambs", "Take care of my sheep", "Feed my
sheep" (John 21: 15,16,17)
